HELEN & MATURIN "MIT" BAY
Interesting Stories at a 1968 Dinner Party
At a dinner party in 1968, many funny stories are told about adventures aboard a Windjammer cruise in the Bahamas. Converted from an audio tape, this clip is pretty long but, if you have the patience, it is rewarding. You'll also enjoy their discussion of costs. The 10 day trip for two including all meals, etc. was under $1,000; crew members made $100 per month!

Martin Luther King Riots-April, 1968
MLK was killed in April 1968 while Mit and Helen and Gerry were living in Chicago about 2 miles apart. Chicago erupted in flames and raging gun battles. In this audio clip, you'll hear these three people recount the events as they happened. A rather incredible recording! Gerry was working at 35th and State in a very black section of Chicago and had to get home through some pretty tough neighborhoods. On the tape, he's pretty nonchalant about this but in reality, it was pretty scary.
