Martin Luther King Riots-April 1968
MLK was killed in April 1968 while Mit and Helen and Gerry were living in Chicago about 2 miles apart. Chicago erupted in flames and raging gun battles. Gerry was working at 35th and State in a very black section of Chicago and had to get home through some pretty tough neighborhoods. On the tape, he's pretty nonchalant about this but in reality, it was pretty scary.
